Fredag Fika

Week 11&12

Fredag = Friday Fika = A big part of a Swede’s everyday life. Basically, fika means to have a break or two during the day with your co-workers or friends and enjoy some drinks and a pastry.

We put signs up around the construction site announcing our first Fika with the workers. We chose Friday October 4th because that is Sweden’s official Cinnamon Bun Day. It’s a big deal, and we wanted to take the opportunity to thank the workers for all they do.

Eric, Sister Haggard, LeAnn and Sister McGuire. Nope, I did not make these from scratch. We ordered them from a famous Swedish Pastry shop just a 10 minute walk away.

These are some of the workers that stopped by. We took the opportunity to show a video of completed temples. Seeing the craftsmanship and quality of the work was beyond anything they had experienced. We hope to encourage them to do their best work.
