General

The birds are flying out of the nest.

We take these missionaries grocery shopping every Monday morning bright and early. We’re sad to let four and soon to be five out of the nest.
Along with the construction on the temple there’s also a lot going on with renovations of the Gästhem (patron housing). With those renovations the missionaries were moved to housing in the town north of us. We knew it was coming but it’s still hard to see them go.
We fit most of the luggage in one trip. Goodbye Elder Acosta and Elder Dent.
And Sister Haggard (front -left) is finishing her mission this week. I don’t even want to think about it!
We met up with some sisters in Mariefred. We strolled the tourist barren streets and had stunning views of Gripsholm Slott.

Gustavia

My friend Fern invited me to Gustavia. The Royal Swedish Ballet performed the history of the unknown Swedish Prince, Gustav Badin Couschi.

The Royal Swedish Opera was completed in the 1880s. The decor was so ornate!

Proberbs 27:9

We just have to say that we have felt warmth, love and acceptance from the people we have gotten to know since being here in Sweden. I didn’t always remember to take their photos, but here are a few.

Bert and Margareta Mattsson

They live in Nynashamn just a 20’ train ride south of Västerhaninge. You can see the Baltic Sea in the background. They had us over for lunch and served the most tasty reindeer meat in a cream sauce. It was delicious! This couple has dedicated their lives to living the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Eric & LeAnn, Katarina & Carl-Axel Karlsson

The Karlsson’s were a big part of how we got to Sweden for our mission. Carl-Axel is the architect for the Stockholm Temple. Eric and Carl met many years ago while attending architecture school at the University of Utah. We used to do vacations together as our children were close in age. So many fun memories with this family and we hope to make more.

Eric, LeAnn and Nancy Bertilson

Nancy and her husband Bo Christer invited us to their home on the beautiful Handen Lake. These people are very talented and hard working. Nancy took us on a hike around the lake. They were the previous Temple President and Matron.

Inger and Bengt Höglund

Inger wrote the book, Stegitro-Leap of Faith, which is a history of the church here in Sweden from 1850-2000. Her husband is a graphic artist and was also involved with the book.

We are inspired by the lives of so many people we have come to know since being here. Our lives are full.

Sending love from Sweden,

Elder and Sister Lofgran
